Israel/America: A Rambling Poem - By Remi Kanazi

Category:Poems | Posted by: babagrr | Add comment 663 words

Every time I think of 9/11
I see burning flesh dripping off the bones of Iraqi children in Fallujah
Now Gaza
I tend to memorialize the forgotten
The collateral damage eclipsing our unpunished crimes

Maybe it’s because I’m a numbers guy
Because if I had a dollar for every time an Iraqi died since 2003
I’d be a millionaire

And don’t get me wrong
Sometimes I don’t know who I hate more
The governments in the West
Or the politicians in the East
Who sell their souls quicker than the oil they export
Straw men who use Palestine as a tool to line their pockets
And don’t give a nickel to their people
Quisling governments
Who stitch mouths shut for a check from Washington and AIPAC
How can you be their prototypical anti-Semite
If you are signing peace accords to oppress your own people?

And then Orientalists and idiots talk about how
We can’t have democracy in the Middle East
Because of what happened in Gaza
A Hamas boogyman wrapped in democratic elections
Rahm Emanuel wants to educate me and my people about democracy gone wrong
Why doesn’t he try implementing one in Israel first?
Instead of bowing down to terrorists like his father and the IDF
Lauding a third rate, racist, European society that’s imploding quicker
Than its moral standing in...

This poem is about two-year-old Farah Emad al-Helo, martyred by gunshot wounds on 5th January 2008. Please make dua for Gaza

Harmony will come

As my soul lift slowly out

I feel the essence of devout,

I feel the fantasy, within my reality.

I have always looked for tranquillity,

Dreaming about the times of ecstasy.

Easing the fear from any harm,

I say " harmony will come".

Sitting by the road side, as the sewage flows,

My family caress me as my life goes.

Pure life, the beauty of everlasting eyes,

The peacefulness of family ties.

Moments that will always be untainted

Deep in memory as ever painted.

Shall never be forgotten:

The weapon of fire gun.

The dripping of tear droplets

like purest of waterfalls,

Tranquillity relished under the jets

Soothing voices of angel calls.

Hold this moment, within these lines.

Eternally for people to hear our fates,

I see the calmness as my eyes dilates.

In all the gunfire madness,

Please pray for my families bless.

Please make dua for Gaza.

A Child’s Cry

Category:Poems | Posted by: babagrr | Add comment 299 words

There is much “wisdom” in the words these children are saying.

Many adults could learn from these children. Seems the children are well informed and are not blind to the actual realities of what has been happening.

Through the eyes of a “Child” will we see the “Light”.

****

A Child’s Cry

Can you imagine how I see life?

Can you understand what it feels like?

Can you know the agony?

Can you know how often I cry?

Is it so much to want to be happy?

Is it so much to want peace?

Is it so much to ask for love?

Is it so much trouble?

My friends have died.

My life is hopeless.

My relatives are sick.

My home is gone.

I am just a little kid.

I am so scared.

I am not who you think I am.

I am not bad.

Can you imagine how I feel?

Can you understand what I say?

Can you now see why I need help?

Can I tell you I am afraid? I am.

Is it so hard for you to understand?

Is it that I am different?

Is it my religion?

Is it I don’t count?

My memories scare me.

My thoughts are all sad.

My future is short.

My mother always has tears in her eyes.

I am just a little kid.

I am dying.

I am not who you think I am.

I am only kid.

Can you stop the bombs from coming down?

Can you stop the guns?

Can you help my mommy stop crying?

Can you take care of my friends?

It is hard to leave them knowing they are so sad.

It is not my fault.

It is not me who started this.

It is not easy to be a kid sometimes. No Trackbacks

"A golden chain"

Friendship is a Golden Chain,
The links are friends so dear,
And like a rare and precious jewel
It's treasured more each year...
It's clasped together firmly
With a love that's deep and true,
And it's rich with happy memories
and fond recollections, too...

Time can't destroy its beauty
For, as long as memory lives,
Years can't erase the pleasure
That the joy of friendship gives...
For friendship is a priceless gift
That can't be bought or sold,
But to have an understanding friend

"No Thanks..."

Category:Poems | Posted by: babagrr | Add comment 222 words

The rain was falling and the water level was falling. As
the water level rose higher and higher, forcing the man
onto the roof of his house, alone comes a row boat with
an offer to take him to safer ground. "No, thanks." the
man replied. "The Lord will provide."

As the water got higher, alone comes someone in a motor
boat with another offer to take the man to safer ground.
"No thanks, the Lord will supply."

Standing on the very top of his chimney with a helicopter
hovering overhead offering to take him to safer ground, he
yells out, "Thanks, but no thanks. The Lord will provide."

The rapidly rising water finally sweeps the man off the
top of his house, taking him downstream toward destruction.
While being swept alone in the rapids, he cries out, "Lord,
why didn't you help me? You know I was trusting in You." He
hears a voice say, "I sent you a row boat, a motor boat, and
a helicopter. What more did you want me to do?"

Isn't this just like most of us? God sends the help we are
praying for, but all too often we refuse to recognize the
help He sends. When things over our heads and we are out of
control, we blame Him for ignoring us.

RECIPE FOR FOREVER

Category:Poems | Posted by: babagrr | Add comment 117 words

Gather all of the ingredients together,
So that they are close at hand!
Get a clean cloth and wipe the bowl clean
of any lingering *dust* from the past.
Take MATURITY, RESPECT, and FRIENDSHIP, and stir gently.
Add unlimited amounts of COMPASSION and KINDNESS,
And mix well.
To this, add CARING by the handfuls, and fold in TRUST.
Continue stirring gently, adding LISTENING,
HONESTY, and large amounts of COMMUNICATION.
Slip in some DREAMS, GOALS,
And firm pieces of KEEPING PROMISES.
Bake in a home filled with PEACE, BEAUTY, and SERENITY.
Before you taste the finished product,
sprinkle liberally with PATIENCE, LOVE, and a touch of SPICE.
Serve very hot, with IMAGINATION on the side.

"The Size of Your Heart"

Category:Poems | Posted by: babagrr | Add comment 122 words

It isn't the size of your house as such
That matters so much at all.
It's the gentle hand and its loving touch,
That make it great or small.

The friends who come and the hour they
Who out of your house depart,
Will judge it not by the style you show,
But rather by the size of your heart.

It isn't the size of your head so much,
It isn't the wealth you found.
That will make you happy -- it's how you touch
The lives that are all around.

For making money is not hard --
To live life well is an art:
How people love you, how they regard,
Is all in the size of your heart.

"If Children Live"

Category:Poems | Posted by: babagrr | Add comment 118 words

If children live with criticism,
they learn to condemn and be judgemental.
If children live with hostility,
they learn to be angry and fight.
If children live with ridicule,
they learn to be shy and withdrawn.
If children live with shame,
  they learn to feel guilty
If children live with tolerance,
  they learn to be patient.
If children live with encouragement,
  they learn confidence.
If children live with praise,
  they learn to appreciate.
If children live with fairness,
  they learn justice.
If children live with security,
  they learn to have faith.
If children live with approval,
  they learn to like themselves.
If children live with acceptance and friendship,
they learn to find love in the world.

"ACCEPT ME"

Category:Poems | Posted by: babagrr | Add comment 138 words

Accept me as I am I have no guarantee.
A claim to perfection I have not. Perfect I cannot be.

I, like you.....am human. Prone to make mistakes.
Failure is not a character flaw, Just a part of the human makeup.

I live, I laugh and I also learn. My knowledge is incomplete.
I am searching all the time, in waking hours as well as sleep.

I have a long road to travel, as well as you do.
We learn our lessons on the way. Wisdom we shall accrue.

So please accept me as I am Because I am .... Just me.
No one like me in the world. That is my only guarantee.

This is how I feel I have a heart, open it and see
Please take care That's all I am, just me.

Cry - by Janine Swope

Category:Poems | Posted by: babagrr | Add comment 160 words

You hide behind your smile,
But your eyes tell more than you’ll ever know.
You laugh to help fight away the tears
That lay in the wings, ready to fall.
You hide your pain so well,
I am almost in awe of you.
You hold your head up and smile,
Even with the weight of the world on your back.

Please cry,
Just once so I can wipe the tears from your face.
Cry, so I can see that you too are human.
Cry, so that there will be no more hurt in your eyes.
Cry, cry away all the pain others have caused you.

The mask you wear is starting to truly fade away,
And the real you is emerging.
You are sensitive and caring
Is sensitive not cool?
Is that why you can’t bear
To let others know how you feel?
Please cry, if not to let the pain go,
Cry, so you can be yourself. No Trackbacks
